1. The service

What MD Editor gives you

MD Editor is a Markdown editor that runs in your browser. It sits at mdeditor.tw beside a free library of guides, such as the complete Markdown guide. There is no fee, no sign-up and no paid tier.

What we do not promise

The service is offered as is. We work to keep it fast and online. Even so, we do not guarantee that it will always be available.

We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the site at any time, and we may do so without notice. Nothing on this page obliges us to keep a feature alive.

2. Your content is yours

We never receive what you write

Everything you type into the editor is processed inside your browser. It is never transmitted to us. The privacy policy describes the same design in more detail.

We claim no rights over it

Because your text never reaches us, we take no rights in it of any kind:

• No license. We do not ask you for one, and using the site does not grant us one.
• No ownership. Every document you create with MD Editor remains fully and exclusively yours.
• No review or reuse. We cannot read your drafts, publish them, or pass them to anyone else.

What that leaves with you

The other side of full ownership is full responsibility. You alone are responsible for what you write and for what you do with it.

3. Acceptable use

Things you must not do

You agree not to misuse the service. In plain terms, you may not:

• disrupt or overload the site, or probe and breach its security;
• scrape it at a volume that harms access for other people;
• present the site as your own service;
• use it in any way that breaks a law that applies to you.

Your words stay your responsibility

Your documents never reach our servers. We cannot police them, and we do not try to. What you write is measured against the law where you are, and answering for it is your job.

4. No warranty, limitation of liability

The service comes with no warranty

MD Editor is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind. That covers warranties both express and implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, MD Editor and its operator are not liable for:

• indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages of any kind;
• loss of data, loss of profits or loss of business;
• anything arising from your use of the service, or from your being unable to use it.

This limit still applies if we were advised that such damage was possible.

5. The editor runs locally, so back up your own files

Where your drafts are kept

The editor saves your draft to localStorage in your own browser, on your own device. We hold no copy, so we cannot recover one for you.

How a draft gets lost

Drafts disappear for ordinary reasons:

• clearing your browser data or this site's data;
• writing in a private window, which is wiped when you close it;
• switching to another browser, profile or device;
• a browser crash or a failed update.

Tip: Export anything you would hate to retype as a .md file, and do it before you close the tab rather than after. A file on your own disk survives every item on that list.

We are not responsible for lost drafts.

6. Governing law and changes

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China). Any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the Taiwan courts. Where the law permits, the Taipei District Court is the court of first instance.

If these terms change

We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version and its effective date are always published at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the revised terms.
